Developing and cultivating a simple and child-like faith in the fundamental goodness of Life is one of the most powerful things we can ever do. I speak from my own personal experience when I tell you that as you learn to simply trust Life, as you walk in the awareness that all things are working together for your good, you will begin to see a shower of blessings rain upon you like never before. You invariably come to find that your job is never to try and make something happen, but to simply be a conscious and willing participant in the unfolding of the everlasting good. Your job is to say “yes!” to the divine gift that keeps on giving. Soon you realize that all that’s really left to do is to circulate more of the good. So you become both a recipient as well as a distributor of the divine blessings.
The essence of meditation is to place our undivided attention upon what is Real. We turn away from what is transient, we turn away from what is always changing, always in a state of flux, and instead we focus upon that which is the same yesterday, today, and forever—Pure Consciousness, Unconditioned Awareness, Pure Spirit. We turn to our inner filling station so to speak, reminded that within us is all we could ever need. Then, as we head out into the world, we are no longer pulled around by circumstances and conditions. The quality of our consciousness is no longer determined by what is happening in the so-called external. We experience moments of peace, moments of tranquility, even when what is happening on the surface level of our lives doesn’t seem to warrant it. We have transcended the turbulence of condition-based happiness, and we have returned into alignment with our True Self. And when we live from that space, we are able to bring peace, healing, and compassion into all those areas of the world where suffering is still taking place. We no longer wait around for a miracle to happen. Instead we make ourselves available to let the miracle happen in, through, and as us. We have become willing and receptive, ready and available to be used by God in a powerful way.
A wonderful question we might ask ourselves from time to time is, “What is my intention?” When we ask this question, we invite what may have previously been unconscious to now come into the field of our conscious awareness. Today, as you go about your day, as you tend to your activities, be mindful of your intentions. Is it your unconscious intention to remain guarded, holding onto some old perception that is limiting? Is it your intention to hold back, to not fully express who and what you are out of a false sense of inhibition? Needless to say intentions of this nature are the ones that we want to let go of. Let it be your intention to evoke only the highest and best in each new Now-Moment. Let it be your intention to radiate pure and unconditional love, boundless joy and luminosity wherever you go. Make it your intention to see only what is Real, True, and Eternal. Practice consciously setting your intention, and you will create the conditions for your life to be revealed as nothing less than the Divine Masterpiece that it truly is.
Affirmation: “Today I am conscious of my intentions. My intention is to call forth only the highest and best. My intention is to see clearly. I see with my Inner Eye and I behold the Presence of Love, Beauty and Intelligence wherever I go. My intention is to see only God.”
Being the spiritual image and likeness of God means that we contain within us all of the sacred qualities of the Infinite. So within every single one of us truly lies the totality of the All Good. In order for us to experience this, we must first embody it. What we embody in consciousness we become. Choose to begin every day by feeling into your innate wholeness through meditation, affirmative prayer, and contemplation. Realize that as a spiritual being there could not possibly be anything missing within you. You are whole, perfect, and complete at the center of your being. As you contemplate and feel into this on a regular basis, it becomes ingrained into your subjective awareness, meaning you are literally reprogramming your mind. You are allowing the Truth of who you are to take you over. So today, embody your wholeness. Know the Truth about who and what you are, and make the decision that your life will become the living demonstration of that.
Happiness is our natural state of being. Yet we are not talking about happiness for any particular reason. Much rather are we referring to happiness as a continual sense of peace, joy, love, harmony, and inner fulfillment. The truth is not one thing needs to change in the external in order for us to experience this. The fastest way to enter into this natural state of well-being is to engage in the practice of radical gratitude. When we are thankful not merely for what we have labeled good or desirable, but instead when we make gratitude our way of life—appreciating the very gift of existence itself—we will have created a powerful shift in our perspective. Suddenly we realize that it is not necessary to base our happiness on what seems to be occurring at the surface level of our lives. Rather than relying on condition-based happiness, we have uncovered the source of true happiness which can only be found within. And as we make living from that place our priority, naturally the seeming outer reality cannot help but rearrange itself around our new internal state of being.
Give yourself permission to examine your life, and simply notice any areas in which you may find that you have been holding back. Become aware of any old perceptions that do not line up with your true nature. Then, express gratitude. Be grateful because you have become aware of these old perceptions. You have become conscious enough to notice them, and once you are conscious of them they no longer control you. And in the spirit of gratitude and appreciation, fully aware that you have grown as a result of all your experiences—the ones you’ve labeled good and the ones you’ve labeled bad—choose to simply let go of all that is now no longer serving you. Step into the awareness that nothing has any power over you unless you allow it to, and realize that you can let go of anything you no longer want to hold on to. Today, claim your divine freedom as a free and infinite spirit. Determine to live your highest potential, free from anything that does not serve you when it comes to that. Your experiences invariably shift as you shift your perceptions.
There is a principle at work in the Universe that says that if you push against something, it will push against you. The kind of energy that you put out there is exactly the kind of energy that will be reflected back to you. A profound freedom arises once we are able to give up our need for struggling, once we let go of the mistaken notion that there is something “out there” that is opposed to us, and we instead relax into an awareness of the law of least effort. Rather than resisting the flow of Life, we learn to trust Life. We learn to trust that the Universe is on our side even in those moments where can’t quite see how something will play out. We learn to radiate an open, friendly, and receptive kind of energy, and we invariably find that this energy then comes straight back to us. Just as the acorn seed doesn’t struggle to become an oak tree, so too you can simply give up struggling right here and right now, and replace it with a simple, child-like faith that knows that all the forces and all the laws of Heaven are ready to support you at all times.
Affirmation: “Today I relax into an awareness of the fundamental goodness of Life. I know that I am divinely guided and divinely supported. I freely receive the bountiful gifts and the rich blessings that Beloved Father-Mother God has in store for me. And so it is.”
