Archive for January, 2012

This is a continuation from Part 1 which gave us some suggestions for how to move out of the comfort zone of our thoughts, words and deeds into our Excellence Zone.

The aim of this Best Year Of Your Life series is to provide practical and easy to implement steps that we can take to shift our thoughts to change how we look at ourselves, the world, and our place in it. What we’re doing is breaking free from any and all old thought patterns of lack, limitation, and scarcity, and returning to our natural state of Love, Joy, Appreciation, and Well-being. So let’s evolve together and make 2012 our very best year yet.

  • Enlarging Our Capacity To Receive

Most of us place limits on how much good we’re willing to allow into our lives. We decide how blessed we’re going to be, how healthy our bodies will be, how much money flows to us, how fulfilling our relationships will be, and how many of our dreams will come true. This usually applies no matter where we are in life. No matter if you’re just starting out, or if you’ve already achieved a considerable amount of success in your life, chances are there’s a limit as to how far you’re willing to go.

Now, I do want to make sure there’s no misunderstanding here. I am not talking about merely chasing after more stuff; more money, bigger houses, more expensive cars. What I’m talking about is becoming greater expressions of ourselves. Material wealth can certainly be a part of that, but this also includes becoming more loving, having peace of mind, living in perfect health, having meaningful and fulfilling relationships in all areas of our lives.

Remember, we’re not here to try and make it. We are here to live extraordinary lives!

Reaching our fullest potential is all about releasing what’s been blocking us up until now. These blocks are usually unconscious, which means that becoming more conscious and deepening our awareness must be part of the process.

I believe in order for us to reach our fullest potential, we have to be willing to enlarge our capacity to receive. What I mean by that is that oftentimes we may be blocking what wants to come into our lives by thinking thoughts like, “it’s just too good to be true. This couldn’t possibly be happening to me.” Or perhaps we feel uncomfortable with receiving too much because we don’t think we deserve it. We’re afraid that by allowing too much good into our lives, we’re depriving someone else of their good.

All of these are thoughts that are born out of an erroneous belief in scarcity and judgement.

Scarcity because we think there’s a limited amount of good to go around, which has created an us vs them mentality where we imagine that there’s others with whom we must compete for these goods.

Judgement because we believe we must live up to some kind of ideal and prove ourselves worthy before we can receive all that we’ve desired.

I would like to invite you today to let go of this kind of thinking once and for all!

No matter where you’ve been in the past, no matter how many setbacks you’ve had, no matter how many mistakes you think you’ve made, you are meant for Greatness right here and right now!

Be willing to enlarge your capacity for how much good you’re going to allow into your life. Break past those past limitations, and realize that anything you can dream or imagine the Universe is well able to bring into your life.

Listen to what it is that wants to emerge. And then make yourself available to it.

Surrender to it by reminding yourself, “Today I am available to possibility! I am available to what wants to unfold in my life!”

And instead of saying, “it’s too good to be true,” turn it around by declaring:

“It’s so good, it MUST be true!”

Make this your new response whenever an unexpected blessing or an opportunity comes into your life. Repeat it as often as you must to allow it to become a natural part of how you view life. Say it until you really believe it. Make it your mantra: “It’s so good, it MUST be true! It’s so good, it MUST be true! It’s so good, it MUST be true!”

And once we’ve began to enlarge our capacity to receive, our next step becomes surrendering. Surrendering to what? To the Great Unfolding.

  • Surrendering To The Great Unfolding

Did you know that there’s an everlasting and eternal unfolding of good that’s happening all over the cosmos? Most people are not only unaware of this, they’re also not used to even considering the possibility. So let’s examine this a little closer for a moment.

I think we can all agree that everything in the Universe, seen and unseen, can ultimately be traced back to one Source. Whether we call this Source God, Allah, the Christ Presence, Infinite Intelligence, Divine Mind, the Infinite Field, or any other name, isn’t really important. But what we can easily deduce from just looking at the world around us is that this Source must be loving and benevolent. There is evidence for this all over the place. The most obvious being that the universe is even here in the first place, able to sustain itself. If the Source behind its creation was malevolent, evil, or destructive, by its very nature, the universe would have self destructed a long time ago.

But instead, the universe not only continues to exist, it expands at an astronomical rate. Isn’t it amazing that the gravitational forces in our solar system are so precise that all of the planets remain in perfect orbit around the sun? And this isn’t just a random occurrence; there’s billions of solar systems like ours all across the galaxy.

The New Testament quotes Jesus as asking us to look at the lilies of the field, stating that they do not labor or spin, but not even King Solomon in all his splendor was dressed as magnificent as they. He then went on to say, if that is how God takes care of the grass in the field, how much more will God take care of you?

I love that analogy. The same applies all over nature. And it invites us to surrender and simply trust the Source from which we came.

Look at the birds, they don’t worry about what they’re going to eat next, and yet, they’re always taken care of. Their needs are always supplied. The same goes for any animal anywhere in nature. Have you ever seen a stressed out duck? Or a worried penguin? Of course not! Everything in nature is part of what I like to refer to as the Great Unfolding, or the Great Cosmic Unfolding.

The Great Cosmic Unfolding is the eternal unfolding of Good, Love, Joy, Well-being, Health, Harmony, Prosperity, Beauty, Creativity, Generosity, and Freedom!

All of these are what we can look at as Divine Qualities. And each and every one of them is your birthright.

But here’s the twist. What’s the difference between the duck and the penguin who are never worried, and the human being who walks around in fear and anxiety?

The human being has something that the duck and penguin do not: self-reflective awareness.

Self-reflective awareness means you’re able to think about what you’re thinking about. You’re able to look at yourself and observe yourself. The duck and the penguin (as far as we can tell) can’t do that. The duck has no choice but to be a duck, the penguin has no choice but to be a penguin. You, however, always have a choice. You’re free to choose what you’re going to be, by choosing what you’re going to think. And there’s another term for this: free will.

Free will is what makes us different from everything else in nature. Free will gives us a choice. It gives us the choice of whether we’re going to participate in the Great Unfolding, or not.

Consider the sun. The sun always shines. It’s bright, radiant, it lights up the entire sky. But here’s the thing: the sun has no choice but to shine. That’s just what the sun does. It doesn’t get up one morning and say, “I don’t really feel like shining today. In fact, I’m getting a little fed up with this whole shining business. You know what? Screw this, I think I’m just gonna quit shining all together!”

That would be ridiculous, wouldn’t it? But you see, that is the choice that you get to make each and every day.

You get to choose whether or not you’re going to shine your light. You get to choose whether or not you’re going to be kind, loving, and compassionate; you get to choose whether or not you’re going to share your gifts, skills and talents; you get to choose whether or not you’re going to be available to the bountiful supply of good that wants to emerge in your life.

Make a choice today that, just like the sun, you’re going to shine your light!

We enlarge our capacity to receive by letting go of scarcity and judgement, and then we surrender to the Great Cosmic Unfolding by making ourselves available each and every day to the Divine Qualities that are seeking to emerge.

Get up every morning and say:

“I am available to the Good today! I am available to Love! I am available to Joy! I am available to Well-being! I am available to Prosperity! Today I am going to be a channel to allow these Divine Qualities to express and reveal themselves! Today I am going to shine my light!”

And then watch what happens. As you go about your days, you’ll start noticing these little changes. Doors will open for you, opportunities will appear, dreams and desires that you’ve held will suddenly start manifesting, and before long, you’ll find yourself looking around, wondering, “how did I ever end up HERE? How did my life ever get THIS AMAZING???”

So remember that you are a Limitless Being, and that the life of your dreams (whatever that may be for you) is the life you were meant to live!

Much Love and Blessings to you!

So here we are. Three weeks into the new year. A new beginning. Another year filled with endless possibilities and new opportunities for expansion.

Of course really every moment is a new beginning. In each and every moment we have the opportunity to start over and begin again. But it seems that whenever we arrive at the beginning of a new year, for many people the possibility of starting over seems to come more into focus.

Chances are you may be one of these people. If so, you may have declared some kind of new years resolution, some change that you’re seeking to make in 2012. Or maybe you’re one of the people who don’t think too much of new years resolutions, for the simple reason that they never really seem to amount to all that much. How often have we heard of or known someone who’s made some great enthusiastic declaration for how they’re going to improve their life in the new year, only to find that they seem to have forgotten all about it usually around halfway through January?

I believe new years resolutions are usually flawed for a very simple reason: we’ve only focused on stating what our goal or intentionality is, but we haven’t spent enough time actually coming into alignment with it. Or in other words, we haven’t spent enough time changing our habitual thought and behavior patterns to conform to the new lifestyle that we’d like to cultivate.

Simply put — it’s the old habits that are cancelling out the new goals or intentions.

So rather than encouraging you to stick with a specific new years resolution, I’d like to suggest a different approach. If you truly want to make 2012 your best year yet, I would suggest considering changing some of your habitual ways of looking at yourself, your life, and the world around you. Perception creates reality. The way you look at things determines what your experience will be — every single time, no exceptions.

To some degree we’ve all allowed ourselves to be conditioned in one way or another when it comes to how we look at the world and our place in it — be it either by well meaning friends or family, or the media. Moving away from our old perceptions which are usually fear based and reflect an erroneous and chronic belief in lack, scarcity and limitation, into a new perception that is in alignment with the Divine qualities of Love, Joy, Peace and Well-being, is what I’m calling moving out of the comfort zone into the Excellence Zone.

  • Move Into Your Own Personal Excellence Zone

Did you know we all have our own personal Excellence Zone? What I mean by that is that we all have something at which we’re naturally good at, which also happens to be something that we love to do. It’s been called passion, hobbies, interests, talents, dreams. Well, while all those words are certainly accurate descriptions, I like to sum all of them up by referring to them as our own personal Excellence Zone.

What are some of the things you like to do? What are you naturally drawn to? What things are you passionate about? What are your skills and talents? If you carefully examine those questions, you will find that the answers to all of them have some things in common. You’ve just found your first clue to your reason for being here.

Once you’ve done that, you can then ask yourself the following question: if time and money weren’t an issue (which they aren’t, by the way), what would I be doing with my life?

And then pay attention. Listen to that Inner Voice.

Whatever it’s pointing you towards, pursuing it is what puts you on the path to your own personal Excellence Zone.

But what’s happened is that so many of us have gotten stuck in the opposite zone — the comfort zone. And, yes, while the comfort zone may sound alluring at first glance, let’s not be fooled by it. One of our inherent natures it to be ever expansive, to evolve beyond what we’ve been before, to grow and become greater versions of ourselves, to increase our capacities for sharing our gifts, skills and talents, to find new ways for being of service and for being a beneficial presence on the planet.

  • Making Excellence in Thought, Word, and Deed our Daily Habit

Remember the main challenge we talked about when it comes to new years resolutions? Letting go of the old habits and coming into alignment with whatever your resolution was. Alignment is the key here. In order to create real lasting change in our lives, we must be in alignment in thought, word, and deed.

So to move out of the comfort zone into the Excellence Zone, we must ensure that our thoughts, words, and deeds reflect the excellence that we’re reaching for. Our words and deeds flow out of our thoughts, so naturally our thoughts is where it all must start. Now, how might we go about making this shift? I believe the best way to sum it up is this:

Every thought that you have is either a thought of Love or a thought of fear. There is nothing else to choose from but Love and the absence of love, which is fear.

In our society we’ve been trained to come from a place of fear. But we’ve been trained so well that we don’t even realize it most of the time. In fact, we think it’s normal! We think it’s normal to be worried, to imagine worst case scenarios by projecting our fears into the future. We think it’s normal to walk around complaining, being dissatisfied in one way or another. We think it’s normal to blame others, be it a spouse, our parents, our employer, or the government. You ask someone how they’re doing, and oftentimes they’ll tell you, “I’m hanging in there. I’m trying to make it. I’m okay, I guess.”

Enough of that!

You’re not here to try and make it, you’re here to thrive, you’re here to radiate and embody the qualities of Love, Joy, Well-being, Health, Prosperity, Generosity, Creativity, Beauty, and Success! You’re here to live an extraordinary life!

The life of your dreams is the life you were meant to live!

But as a result of these conditioned habitual patterns, it can feel easier sometimes to reach for those mediocre thoughts, thus perpetuating our comfort zone. Well, I’m here to invite you to break free. I’m here to invite you to create change from the inside out.

Why not begin every day with saying, “today I am available to Love. Today I am available to Possibility. I am willing to let Excellence express and reveal itself through me in all areas of my life. I am willing to allow Love to pour through me. I am willing to go beyond of what I previously thought was possible. Love is the very activity of my consciousness!”

Then ask yourself, “if Love was the only thing I was capable of, what would my life look like? What would my life look like if the only response I knew was Love? How would I interact with those around me? What thoughts would I be thinking? What actions would I be taking?”

And then allow that vision to form in your awareness. Allow it to be as vivid as possible. Don’t censor it, don’t judge it. Just allow it to form. What you’re doing is planting a seed, you’re becoming more conscious.

As you become more conscious, you’ll start catching yourself whenever you’re coming from fear. You’ll realize it when it’s happening. It won’t be automatic anymore. And that’s when you realize that you actually have a choice.

Freedom comes from the realization that we have a choice.

When those thoughts come that tell you why you can’t accomplish your dream or why you’re not good enough, you can switch that around by reminding yourself, “Today I am available to Possibility. I am willing to go beyond of what I previously thought was possible. I am available to Excellence.”

When you find yourself getting frustrated, annoyed, or you have that urge to complain about something (or someone), you can switch it around by asking, “What if Love was the only response I knew? What if Love was the only thing I was capable of?”

When you feel the urge to judge a situation, a person, or yourself, just say, “What if I loved unconditionally? What would my response look like then?”

Quite a shift compared to our normal way of thinking, isn’t it? It’s radical. Well, it may seem radical, but that’s what we’re here for, to start making these shifts and live the awakened life.

Now, let me finish with this: it’s important that whenever you do find yourself reacting from a place of fear, anger or frustration, be easy on yourself.

Don’t judge yourself. It’s all good. This is a continual process that can show its full effects only when practiced on a regular basis.

I hope you find this helpful. Feel free to share your comments as I would love to hear from you. Also, if you have any questions or would like further clarification, please let me know.

Let’s grow together!

Let’s make 2012 our best year yet!

Peace and Blessings to you!

Welcome, and thanks for stopping by!

Awakened Life Now is intended to be a place of inspiration and empowerment, a place that reminds us all of the greatness inherent in every one of us.

I want to take just a moment here to share with you why I’ve felt inspired to start this blog, and what my overall vision and intention for it is.

I’m a writer, and have been for some time now. Primarily my focus has been and continues to be screenwriting. I first started writing when I was about sixteen or seventeen, but I had never really seen myself as a writer until I’d moved from Germany to the United States back in 2004. That’s when, one thing leading to another, I started what ultimately grew into a popular script based virtual series. A virtual series is a series published in written form on the internet that releases episodes on a regular (usually weekly) basis, very much like a television series.

Ever since I’ve also written several pilots and feature films, and right now I’m getting those scripts out there in order to find an agent, sell a script and/or get a job as a writer in either film or television.

But for some time now I’ve been having this feeling that there’s also something else that I’ve been wanting to do, something that I feel as much drawn to as I do to filmmaking. It can be tricky to articulate these things, but the best way I can describe it is that it’s a desire to share what I’ve come to find are some universal principles that, if applied in your life, will have a profound impact.

I think we can all agree that there is something that we, humanity as a whole, have not quite understood about life. Because had we understood it, the world would not be in the condition that it’s in right now. So there must be something that humans have misunderstood, and if they understood it, if they really got it, it would change the entire world.

Well, I believe this something relates as much to humanity as a whole as it does to every single one of us as individuals. It’s only once we transform ourselves that we transform the world. Gandhi has been quoted as saying, “be the change you want to see in the world.” And that’s, in a nutshell, what this is about.

Awakened Life Now is a blog about change.

It’s the change that comes from awakening to our true nature.

It’s the change that positively affects all parts of our life and transforms them into areas of love, joy, beauty, well-being, and expansion.

If I had to sum it up, I would say the core message behind all of it is this:

  • You are a Limitless Being, infinitely more powerful than you may have realized. And whatever your dream is, it’s your indicator of how you can make a difference in the world. The life of your dreams is the life you were meant to live.

I’d like you to really take in those words above. Reread them, memorize them. Heck, you could even print them out and put them somewhere where you’ll always see them. Because those words represent the truth about you, your life, and your very purpose for being here.

Too often we’ve talked ourselves into believing that a dream is like some lofty idea of what we wish our lives would be like. We think that going after our dream will be hard, painful, and ultimately doomed to failure. So instead we’ve resigned ourselves to just “trying to make it.” And to rationalize it, we buy into limiting beliefs that justify why we can’t go after our dream, why it’s impossible, and why things are as they are.

Well, I’m here to tell you, to remind you: none of that is true! The life of your dreams is the life you were meant to live!

But here’s the thing, you’re also an Unlimited Being, infinitely more powerful than you may have realized, remember? So that means it’s up to you. In order to live the life of your dreams, you first have to make the decision that you will. In fact, you’re so powerful that whatever you think, say, and believe, immediately manifests as your experience of life.

Wow, there’s another thing I’d like you to really take in:

  • Whatever you think, say, and believe, manifests as your experience of life.

In other words, there is no outside power or force that has any influence or control over you, unless — and here is the catch – you believe there is.

So it’s really all about what you believe. And you can put that to a test right now. What do you believe about what you’ve read here so far? Does any of it resonate with you? Does it make sense? Do you agree? Do you disagree? Pay close attention to what comes up, and then ask yourself, is what I’m believing right now helping me? Is what I believe empowering me?

If the answers to those questions are, yes, then don’t change anything about what you believe. You see, I’m not here to try and convince you of anything. Much rather would I like for you to simply look within, examine your own consciousness, examine your life, find out what’s true for you. My hope and prayer would be that you simply remember about yourself what, at the deepest level of your awareness, you already know. And then be the living embodiment of that — be the wonderful Being that you came here to be, follow your passions, go after your dreams, and freely share all of your gifts and talents. That’s the greatest gift you can give to the world.

And if you find a belief that does not empower you, a belief that limits you, here’s some more good news: you can change your beliefs at any time. You can let go of any and all limiting beliefs, and the first step to letting them go is to simply be aware of them.

My desire is for this blog to be both inspirational as well as practical. So in future articles I will be giving you some very practical tips for what actions you can take in your life on a day to day basis in order to create the change you want to see.

For further information on my own background as well as more on the visioning behind this blog, please be sure to check out the as well as the Awakened Life Now Mission Statement.

But for now, let me finish with this: it’s the beginning of a brand new year, and what a wonderful time to embrace the countless opportunities that life has to offer. So why not make a decision right now that this will be your year. Let 2012 be the year where you take your life to the next level, let it be the year in which you release all the brakes and empower yourself to have all the love, joy, happiness, success, prosperity, health, well-being and fulfilling relationships that you’ve always wanted.

Let 2012 be your year!

Let it be your best year yet!

Peace and blessings!
