Be aware that who you are has nothing to do with externals. Who you are has nothing to do with circumstances or conditions. And it has nothing to do with what may or may not have happened in the past. Who you are transcends all of that. And as you consciously embrace your True Identity as a limitless being made in the spiritual image and likeness of the Ineffable, you are in that moment reclaiming your spiritual authority. You are remembering that life is always lived from the inside out, and never from the outside in. So give yourself permission today to invest some time into communing with your Deepest Most Authentic Self. Feel into those sacred qualities that are within you, and then let the still small voice guide you into a greater experience of the magnificence that is you.
Proper seeing begins with noticing all those areas in our life that are working well. We literally embark on an inquiry where we ask, “What is working in my life? What can I be grateful for?” And as gratitude becomes our dominant vibration, we soon begin to see that we have far more to be grateful for than we may have even realized. The wonderful truth is we can be grateful for both what is wanted as well as what is seemingly unwanted, for hidden in what appears unwanted are opportunities for growth and expansion. So as we see properly we begin to notice even the hidden blessings. We realize that Life is always for us, and that all things are always working together for our good. Today, dwell upon what is working in your life. Let your gratitude be the doorway that guides you into proper seeing, where you will realize with sweet delight that Life truly is magnificent beyond measure.
Living from the inside out involves the gradual retraining of our perceptions, how we choose to approach our day to day experience. When we live from the inside out, we understand that we do not live in a material world that is separate from us. Instead we sense that we are part of a vast spiritual system that is intimately and intricately interconnected. We realize that this system is loving and on our side. We realize that we are a unique expression of it, and so what we earnestly desire is actually what is seeking to happen through us. The desires of our heart is how the All-Good is seeking to express itself through us and as us. So when we live from the inside out, we begin to set our intentions ahead of time. We focus upon the qualities we wish to experience, we give ourselves permission to follow the calling of our heart, and we move in the direction of our preferences and inclinations. And finally, we trust in the infinite organizing power of the Ineffable which always stands ready to surprise and amaze us with the magnitude of its goodness.
It seems to me that Unconditional Love must always contain within it some recognition of the fundamental goodness of all Life. When we are loving unconditionally, we have recognized that regardless of appearances and conditions beneath the surface of things all is always well. Rather than judging by appearances, we yield to the recognition of the Divine Presence everywhere. Naturally this requires practice, and the best place to begin is with ourselves. As we learn to love ourselves unconditionally, we create the space within our own awareness that will allow us to love all others unconditionally. After all, every relationship we have is ultimately a reflection of the relationship we have with ourselves. And our relationship with ourselves in turn reflects our relationship with our Source. So today, yield to the spiritual quality of Unconditional Love. Let it take over your life. Let it flood your awareness, and you will experience yourself as who and what you really are—a unique and individualized expression of Limitless Goodness.
The Persian poet Rumi wisely remarked that ”you are not a drop in the ocean, you are the entire ocean in a drop.” Today, I invite you to live in the sweet awareness of your true oceanic identity as a cosmic being containing within you the totality of All That Is. There is a pattern of perfection within you that wants to be set free in the form of you freely giving of your unique gifts, skills and talents. Feel deeply into your innate wholeness and completion, and then give it permission to take over your life. When you find that there is nothing missing within you, you move away from trying to get and seeking fulfillment in the external, towards living in a vibration of giving and sharing. You realize that as you circulate the limitless good that has been freely given, it always and with no exception returns multiplied. Giving and receiving truly are two sides of the same coin.
Get into the habit of starting your day with a general expectancy of good with no attachment to specifics. In other words, make declarations along the lines of “Something wonderful is happening today, and I can’t wait to see what it’s going to be! Something marvelous is unfolding, and I can’t wait to see what form it takes!” When we live in an expectancy of good with no attachment to what shape this good is going to take, we are giving the Universal Presence free reign to literally shock and amaze us with how good Life can be. So today, hold the vibrational space for something wonderful to unfold, yet don’t insist on anything specific nor on any particular timetables. Simply hang out in the sweet and eternal Nowness of each moment, and let the highest and best reveal itself from there.
Spiritual maturity means we have realized that we are not here to get anything from the world, but to bring to the world all that is already within us. It can be tempting to think that there is something “out there” that we have to get to be happy, but that is the illusion. What seems like it’s “out there” is merely a reflection of our own consciousness—thoughts, beliefs and expectations coagulated into perception and experience. Freedom comes when we realize that we can choose what state of consciousness to embody, we can choose which qualities to bring into our day to day life. Our experience always follows our conscousness, it always mirrors our interior qualities back to us.
Taking no thought is to live in a state of complete trust. We trust in the fundamental goodness of Life. We trust that the Universe is always supporting us, that things are always working together for our good. We don’t have to look to anything in the external to know this. Instead, we sense it at the core of our being. We take on a calm assurance and a divine confidence, which then in turn are reflected in our experience as unexpected blessings, moments of synchronicity and divine opportunity. This is what it means to be aligned with the fundamental order and harmony of All That Is. Grace takes over our existence, and each new moment becomes a sweet celebration of awe and wonder, of gratitude for the gift of life itself.
Give yourself permission to examine your life, and simply notice any areas in which you may find that you have been holding back. Become aware of any old perceptions that do not line up with your true nature. Then, express gratitude. Be grateful because you have become aware of these old perceptions. You have become conscious enough to notice them, and once you are conscious of them they no longer control you. And in the spirit of gratitude and appreciation, fully aware that you have grown as a result of all your experiences—the ones you’ve labeled good and the ones you’ve labeled bad—choose to simply let go of all that is now no longer serving you. Step into the awareness that nothing has any power over you unless you allow it to, and realize that you can let go of anything you no longer want to hold on to. Today, claim your divine freedom as a free and infinite spirit. Determine to live your highest potential, free from anything that does not serve you. Your experiences invariably shift as you shift your perceptions.
When we set aside time each day to turn inward and commune with that sweet divine essence, a shift gradually begins to take hold in how we perceive our world. Whereas before the outer may have erroneously appeared as if it held some form of power over us, we are now coming to realize that all true power lies never without but always within. We are coming to realize that the world of form merely follows where our attention goes. And as we choose to place our attention upon the Highest and Best, the divine qualities of Spirit, we are setting into motion a new sequence of events that will cause the seeming external to mirror back to us our new state of consciousness. So the key is to retrain ourselves to no longer merely react to what surrounds us—realizing that what surrounds us are merely the manifestations of old thoughts—and instead to live in the awareness that where we place our attention today will determine the shape of our tomorrows.
