JANUARY THEME: IN THE BEGINNING…
Welcome to the new year! And while of course we wouldn’t want to get too caught up in matters such as dates and times, since after all it is and always will be the Eternal Now-Moment, a new year always offers us the opportunity to have sort of a marker moment in our lives. We may look back at the past year and contemplate what has occurred, how we’ve grown throughout, which events we may have considered to be good and which events we may have considered to be not so good. And we may also use this opportunity of a new year beginning to reorient ourselves and get clear on what really matters to us, and what our intentionality will be moving forward.
Ultimately living the awakened life is all about us becoming more and never less of our True Selves. One of the ways we do this is to live from the inside out—which I will be talking about at length in the first installment of the upcoming Living The Awakened Live Now Video Series—but suffice to say that when we live from the inside out we have gone from being what I like to call “reactionaries” to being “revolutionaries.” And when we’re revolutionaries we are visionaries. This means we have a vision for our lives, and we have cultivated the skill of being able to hold onto that vision—regardless of what circumstances or conditions surround us.
- Our January Theme: In The Beginning…
Starting this month we will be having an official theme every month here on Awakened Life Now. The monthly theme will be the focus of these articles as well as my upcoming video messages. And the theme for January is “In The Beginning…”
Of course what we are alluding to is the scriptural reference that says, “In the beginning God…” And what we’ll be doing throughout the month is exploring some of the basic spiritual principles and universal laws that are always in motion, regardless of whether or not we’re aware of them. Naturally this will be ideal if you are new to this. And for those of us who have already been on the spiritual path for some time, this will be a wonderful opportunity to just re-familiarize ourselves with what we may already know. One of the things that certainly always benefits us is to constantly immerse ourselves into studying these universal truths. The reason being that we live in a world that, if we’re not alert and awake, might easily suck us into a temporary experience of unconsciousness. So by always engaging in some form of spiritual study and practice, we will eventually find ourselves becoming immune to matters such as whatever the current popular mainstream beliefs happen to be.
So with that being said, let us explore some of these universal truths, and let us see what we mean by the topic of today’s article, which is “We’re here! We’re available! We let it be!”
WE’RE HERE!
Regardless of whether or not we have a conscious recollection of it, our existence did not begin with our birth into this world of time and space. Each and every one of us existed before we were born, and we will continue to exist after our physical body has perished. We shall exist forevermore, for we are truly limitless beings on a joyous and eternal journey of unfoldment. Allow yourself to be aware that this is the truth about you. It is the truth about all of us. There will never come a time when you will not exist, and this is because you are an aspect of Existence itself.
Now this may or may not be something that we’ve come to believe in. Yet as we evolve spiritually, and as we make spiritual tools such as meditation and affirmative prayer our regular practice, we begin to raise our level of awareness in a way that allows us to go from merely believing that this is true, to actually having a powerful inner knowing that this is so. We are Eternal Life. We exist now and forevermore.
While we have been around and will be around for all of eternity, it is true when we say that every point of our existence has led us up to this moment right here and right now. With infinite possibilities to choose from, we have chosen to be here now, and we have chosen to show up as exactly the person who is reading these very words right now.
We are limitless beings on a joyous and eternal journey of unfoldment.
Now this explains the first part of this article’s topic, which is “We’re here!” Yes, there can be no denying that we are here! But what is also true is that we didn’t show up by accident, and we didn’t just show up to hang out and kill time. We have arrived in this world of physicality with intentionality. We came here for a particular reason, and what we want to do—particularly going into this new year—is allow ourselves to get back in touch with this reason. What we want to do is begin to carefully examine our lives, and see in what areas we may have been holding back. In what areas have we allowed ourselves to get out of touch with our reason for being here?
What’s important to be aware of is that when we talk about our reason for being here, we are not only talking about what our dreams are. I’ve written extensively about the subject of dreams in the past few weeks, including in last week’s article, “Your Authentic Self: Set It Free!”. But what we’re also talking about in this particular installment is that we have come here so we may begin to embody certain qualities in consciousness. You see, our Soul does not care all too much about what it is that we’re doing; our Soul is more interested in what we are being while we’re doing it. And ultimately we might say that all of us have come here so that we may learn to embody the nature and the qualities of our True Self.
Our True Self is pure love. Our True Self is in an eternal state of bliss. Our True Self is in a state of absolute peace, well-being, and harmony. Our True Self is untouched by human experience. Our True Self does not know lack or limitation, for it lives in an awareness that there is always more than enough, that there are always infinite possibilities before us, and that seeming lack, limitation, and scarcity are merely the results of erroneous thought forms that have coagulated into these lesser experiences within this world of time and space.
So what we’ve come here to do, at the deepest level, is to learn to embody and experience the qualities of our True Self—which I like to call divine qualities—as the reality of our day to day lives. Naturally this includes our ideal employment, perfect health, fulfilling relationships, and other things of this nature. But what’s important to note is that it is always the quality in consciousness that comes first. Yesterday’s meditative thought had spoken to this as well. Everything first begins in consciousness, and we must embody in consciousness what we wish to experience in the world of time and space. So we might say we must seek first the Kingdom of God (embodying the divine qualities of our True Self), and then all else will be added unto us.
What we’ve come here to do, at the deepest level, is to learn to embody and experience the divine qualities of our True Self.
WE’RE AVAILABLE!
The next thing we want to begin to become aware of is that we have not come here to make anything happen. This takes off a lot of pressure. I’ll say this again because it’s a big one: We are not here to make anything happen. We are here so that we may be available, and then allow that which is seeking to happen through us.
What we want wants us. What we desire is actually seeking to happen—it’s seeking to happen through us by means of us.
So what exactly do we mean by this? Let’s say that someone desires to bring more abundance into their lives. What this means is that the quality of abundance is actually seeking to be revealed in this individual’s life. What we want wants us. This is because abundance is one of the divine qualities of our True Self. There is no such thing as lack, limitation, and scarcity in Ultimate Reality.
Now I also said above that everything first begins in consciousness. And so we may realize that abundance—just like all of the divine qualities—is first and foremost a quality in consciousness. Abundance is a feeling tonality that, when embodied, begins to manifest in our lives as the actual physical experience of abundance. And you can replace abundance here with any other divine quality such as love, joy, perfect health and well-being, peace of mind, creativity, wisdom, generosity, loving-kindness, compassion, or anything else of this nature. These are all divine qualities that are always seeking to be expressed and revealed.
Now the standard approach to creating more abundance would be to simply go out into the world, work harder, try harder, and then hopefully make more money and have more abundance. However, this approach of offering more effort is not at all in alignment with the way Life is seeking to express through us. Remember, we are not here to make anything happen. We are here to allow that which is seeking to happen through us. Naturally we will do our part and take the kind of action we need to take. But we do so not through offering more effort, but by releasing resistance.
Our practice then becomes to let go of whatever we need to let go of—in the form of limiting beliefs or old habitual patterns that no longer serve us—so we may be available to what is trying to emerge. We are to wake up every day with an awareness that what we want wants us, and we must cultivate the knowing within that this is so. One of my favorite affirmations is, “I am available to more good than I could even imagine!”
This new awareness creates a powerful shift, because whenever we get extensively caught up in trying to make something happen, what we are really doing is keeping ourselves apart from our desired end result. And that is because everything is energy, everything is vibration. How you think is how you feel. How you feel is how you vibrate. And how you vibrate is how you attract. So if you’re sending out the vibration of, “I need to make this happen,” you are implying that it has not happened yet. The universe always responds by corresponding. And so the experience you will receive is that it hasn’t happen yet. You are quite literally trying too hard. And in so doing you’re keeping yourself apart from it.
Yet once you acknowledge that what you want wants you, you realize that it is already a done deal in the Mind of God. Rather than struggling and getting caught up in doubts, wondering whether or not you’re offering enough effort, you instead begin to have a sense of ease. You know that all is well. You begin to realize that your job is to simply line up your vibration with the vibration of what you’ve asked for, so that it then may demonstrate in your experience.
We are not here to make anything happen. We are here to allow that which is seeking to happen through us.
WE LET IT BE!
Letting it be refers to simply being in that sweet state of allowing. Letting it be means that we have let go of struggling, we’ve let go of trying to make stuff happen, and instead we have an awareness that the entire Cosmos is conspiring on our behalf. Letting it be means that we are making ourselves available to be the recipients of the limitless good that is seeking to come into our experience.
Ultimately the way we do this is by cultivating trust. We trust that the universe is for us, because it is. We trust that all things are indeed working together for our good, because they are. We trust that nothing could ever be against us other than our own perception. We allow ourselves to become aware that, once we are no longer blocking it, there is a divine conspiracy of good that is happening on our behalf. I say this every day: “All things are working together for my good! There is a divine conspiracy of good happening on my behalf right now! I am available to that!” Let these, or something along these lines, be your affirmations too.
So now let us briefly sum up what has been said. Allow yourself to meditate upon these following statements. And, if you will, let them become a part of how you live your life as you embark on your journey throughout this new year.
We’re here! – We’re here for a reason. We’re here by choice. We have arrived with intentionality. Our intentionality, at the deepest level, is to learn to embody the divine qualities of our True Self.
We’re available! – We are not here to try and make things happen. We are here to allow that which is seeking to happen through us. Our task is not to try harder or struggle more, but to instead release whatever resistance we have been offering.
We let it be! – We let it be by cultivating our trust that the universe is on our side, and that more good than we could possibly imagine is ready to come into our lives if we but let it.
We’re here! We’re available! We let it be!
Now take a deep breath.
And let yourself be completely calm and centered as you contemplate this following embodiment:
EMBODIMENT
I give thanks for these words as they enter my field of awareness, and as they take root within me. I am thankful as I am reminded of what at the deepest level I have always known, and that is that I am here by choice, I have arrived with intentionality, and I am here because there is something I have set out to do. How good it is to know that I do not need to make anything happen, for I remember that it is already done. I am reminded of the scriptural words of truth that declare, “Even before you ask, I will have answered!” I know these words to be the truth about me and my life, and I feel good about that. I know that the universe is for me, that there is a divine conspiracy of good happening on my behalf, and that everything is working together for my good. And so I embark upon my journey throughout this new year with a renewed confidence, with a quiet assurance that all is well, and that more good than I could even imagine is now coming into my life. I give thanks in advance. I bless my life, I bless every being that enters my field of awareness, and I indeed bless the entire planet. Knowing that my word spoken with conviction is the Law of my Life, I do give thanks, knowing that a mighty demonstration has been set into motion. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. And so I simply allow it to be. Now and unto forevermore. And so it is. Amen.
