Taking no thought is to live in a state of complete trust. We trust in the fundamental goodness of Life. We trust that the Universe is always supporting us, that things are always working together for our good. We don’t have to look to anything in the external to know this. Instead, we sense it at the core of our being. We take on a calm assurance and a divine confidence, which then in turn are reflected in our experience as unexpected blessings, moments of synchronicity and divine opportunity. This is what it means to be aligned with the fundamental order and harmony of All That Is. Grace takes over our existence, and each new moment becomes a sweet celebration of awe and wonder, of gratitude for the gift of life itself.
Give yourself permission to examine your life, and simply notice any areas in which you may find that you have been holding back. Become aware of any old perceptions that do not line up with your true nature. Then, express gratitude. Be grateful because you have become aware of these old perceptions. You have become conscious enough to notice them, and once you are conscious of them they no longer control you. And in the spirit of gratitude and appreciation, fully aware that you have grown as a result of all your experiences—the ones you’ve labeled good and the ones you’ve labeled bad—choose to simply let go of all that is now no longer serving you. Step into the awareness that nothing has any power over you unless you allow it to, and realize that you can let go of anything you no longer want to hold on to. Today, claim your divine freedom as a free and infinite spirit. Determine to live your highest potential, free from anything that does not serve you. Your experiences invariably shift as you shift your perceptions.
Dedicated spiritual practice and a continual yielding to the divine pattern results in certain insights that cannot be explained rationally. But cosmic knowledge is infinite, so there will always be things that have yet to be revealed to us. For this reason I can say there are things I know, and there are things I don’t know. Here is something I know: God is good. Life is good. It is eternal. There are heavenly forces that are constantly seeking to conspire for our highest and best good. In short, we live in a loving Universe! Each day I rejoice in the sweetness of this. I invite you to do the same. Let us celebrate the goodness of Life together!
As we open ourselves to the larger perspective, we begin to catch all those areas where in the past lesser perceptions may have covered our vision of what is truly possible. As we embrace our true identities as luminous beings of light and love, unique emanations of an ineffable Creator-Presence that is in, through, and all around us, our vision naturally broadens. We awaken to the indescribable beauty of Life, we see the richness of opportunity for humanity as a whole to grow out of the infant stages of spiritual evolution, and to enter into the age of spiritual maturity. This maturing process begins in our own individual lives, from where it expands to include more of that vast kaleidoscope of spiritual beauty that makes up the highest possibility for humanity as an expression of the Divine.
Today, live in the awareness of your true identity as a sacred emanation of Life itself. Realize that you represent the totality of Life, and that within you there is a sense of preciousness, a sense of sacredness, a vibration of pure Love that is nothing less than the feeling tonality of your true being. This vibration is found at the center of all of Life. Perhaps you had become accustomed to viewing yourself as merely the son or daughter of your parents, but today become aware of who you were before your parents were born. This is who you are right now—a beloved child of the Universe, here to reflect and reveal the eternal qualities of the Ineffable within this experiential world of time and space.
The Authentic You cannot be found in any particular activity. You will not uncover your Essential Self on the surface level of your life. Beneath all the activity, beneath whatever may arise in each new now-moment, lies something that ultimately cannot be described, but it can be felt. It cannot be perceived with the physical senses, but it can be spiritually discerned with the senses beyond the five senses. This is why spending time each day in silent communion with the Spirit of Life is so crucial. When we experience our intimate at-one-ment with Spirit, we free ourselves from all that does not belong. We invite more of our Real Self to emerge and come to the surface. As we do this consistently, we find we bring forth all of the sacred qualities of our true being. We anchor the transcendent realm of the infinite overflowing good on earth through our words, our actions, and our intentions.
We might say that the purpose of Life in its physical form is to give expression to what Browning called the “inner splendor,” that Divine pattern of perfection which is the highest and best, infinite potential fully realized and fully expressed. While all of nature gravitates in this direction, you and I have this thing called free will. This means we always have a choice. We must consciously choose to evolve, we must consciously choose to move in the direction of our highest potential. We do this by releasing all unconscious agreements with mediocrity that we may have made, and instead we know that the Ineffable is constantly seeking to guide us and inspire us to become more fully ourselves, to reveal more of our infinite nature. Today, hold the intention that you are going to express fully who and what you really are. Begin with the choice that you are going to set free all of your gifts, skills and talents. Then, simply allow your Silent Partner to show you the way.
Becoming a more complete embodiment of our Authentic Self requires us to gradually unlearn what the world may have taught us. It is a returning to our state of original innocence that we completely inhabited when we arrived here in this world of time and space. We enter into Heaven-Consciousness by becoming as little children because children are quite naturally in touch with this uninhibited state of joy and wonder that is who we really are. There is an inclination towards possibility thinking, a free flow of imagination and ingenuity, a sense that all is well and that Life is for us. This is the state of being from which we originated, and it’s the state of being to which we return. The beautiful thing is that we can choose to live from there once again right here and right now. Today, get in touch with your inner child. Allow that part of you that is pure joy to come to the surface and play in the sandbox of your life. Release any sense of looking at life as being “serious,” and instead behold existence with a sense of awe and wonder. Be grateful that you get to choose what state of consciousness you bring into your experience, and then let all that you are flow freely into all that you do.
The essence of spirituality is to live in the awareness that there is more to life than what we are able to perceive with our physical senses. The truth is that our physical senses will only get us so far. If we were still going by what our physical senses are telling us, we’d have to assume that the earth is flat, simply because that’s what it looks like from most vantage points on the surface. Yet just as we know that the earth is not flat, so too may we rest assured that what we are able to see, hear, touch, taste, and smell is but a tiny fragment of what Life truly is. As you take the time daily to withdraw your attention from the world of phenomena, as you turn inward, as you listen to the sweet stillness within your very being, you are developing and perfecting your capacity for perceiving and discerning spiritual Reality. You are realizing that this has nothing to do with taking on any particular belief system or with following a religious creed, but much rather has it everything to do with having a deeper awareness of what is Real, True, and Eternal—a deeper awareness of your own true nature. And of course your true nature is infinite, whole, perfect, and complete, simply because that is how God created you by becoming you, by remaking itself in its own spiritual image and likeness and naming it you. Your task then becomes to allow your life to now be the living demonstration of all that you truly are.
Affirmation: “Today I see myself the way God sees me. I listen to the sweet sound of stillness within my own being. I allow the still small voice to speak to me, to guide me, and to show me the way back home into a complete embodiment of who and what I really am.”
